New proposals included extending to Wimbledon via East Dulwich & Tooting. 2001 Government gave go-ahead to project. 2003 Work commenced on Northern extension 2004 Control of project passed from Strategic Rail Authority to TFL. 2006 It was announced that the line would form part of London Overground. East Dulwich extension dropped. June: Shoreditch station closed as it was to be replaced. Film 1960 tubes to be replaced by London Overground trains in 2010. 2007 22 Dec :Existing East London Line (Whitechapel - New Cross) closed until completion of Phase 1). 2009 Feb: Phase 2 gets go-ahead but proposed Surrey Canal Bridge station put on hold. |
