Hatcham House

Hatcham House

Hatcham House, also called Hatcham Park, was the manor house of the estate of Hatcham in Surrey which belonged to the Haberdashers Company. It had been rebuilt in 177*. The tenant at this time was Joseph Hardcastle (1752-1818) a campaigner against slavery. The arrival of the nearby railway caused Hardcastle's successors to sell the lease of the house to the Haberdashers' Company, which developed the site. The house was between the modern Egmont Street and Billington Road and was demolished in 1869.
