Herne Hill, SE24, is bordered by Dulwich Village, Herne Hill & Brixton. It was originally a small Surrey settlement by a crossroads near to London. It has a good range of period houses:

Curving tree-lined road off Half Moon Lane. Named after Canon Alfred James Carver (1826-1909), the Master of Dulwich College who oversaw its expansion in the 19th Century. James Callaghan (1912-2005) lived in Carver Road before becoming Prime Minister in 1976.
