Focus On The Old Red Lion
42 Kennington Park Road, 020 7735 1312
Situated between the regenerated Elephant & Castle and Kennington tube the Old Red Lion is an attractive pre-war pub with an Arts and Crafts influenced interior that has to be seen. Inside are two bars (unusual these days) that provide a relaxed environment. In 2010 it was refurbished and its space extended as a traditional-style pub. Open Monday - Friday from 4pm onwards and Saturday & Sunday from mid-day. The Old Red Lion offers real ales (the cult Doom Bar), fine wines, (eg red and white riojas) a beer garden and al fresco seating.
The Kitchen at the Red Lion is open now Classic pub food is servered up using (where possible) locally sourced dishes, with delicious specials being added all the time. Some regulars include
Fish Pie with Salmon, Hake, Chives and Parmesan 9.50
Bangers with Root Vegetable Puree, Cherry Tomatoes and Onion Sauce 8.50
Pork Shank to share for two, Veg, Mash and Spring Onions 15.00. Website |
