Focus On The Old Red Lion
42 Kennington Park Road, 020 7735 1312
Situated between the regenerated Elephant & Castle and Kennington tube the Old Red Lion is an attractive pre-war pub with an Arts and Crafts influenced interior that has to be seen. Inside are two bars (unusual these days) that provide a relaxed environment. In 2010 it was refurbished and its space extended as a traditional-style pub. It is managed by Andy and her friendly team and is open Monday - Friday from 4pm onwards and Saturday & Sunday from mid-day. The Old Red Lion offers real ales (the cult Doom Bar), fine wines, (eg red and white riojas) a beer garden and al fresco seating. A kitchen will be opening soon for classic pub food. Its sister pub is the Dog Star in Brixton. More info
