18th Century
The expansion of Sydenham Spa (now Wells park) led to Sydenham’s early expansion.

19th Century
Sydenham expanded after the railway arrived in 1854
. The Crystal Palace was moved to Norwood in the same year. This increased the pace of building development. Local residents included Ernest Shackleton.

20th Century
In the pre-war period 30 flats built (example Park Court by Gibberd on Lawrie Park Road). After post-war period Sydenham continued to expand.

21st Century
